Tarazonica Greenway
Tarazonica Greenway

This route follows the old railroad line that linked the towns of Tudela and Tarazona. It can be traveled on foot or by bicycle and the passage of motor vehicles is strictly forbidden.

The beginning of this greenway is located in Tudela, specifically at the railway/bus station. After a journey of 22 kilometers we arrive at its end, the town of Tarazona, having passed through other towns such as Murchante, Cascante, Tulebras and Malón. The slope is 1% and there is a difference in altitude of 220 meters, a route especially recommended for bike rides with the family as it does not involve any difficulty.

How to get from our hotel to the start of the Tarazonica greenway

We leave from the front door of the hotel and head towards the bus/railway station along Frauca street, in 300 meters we will have reached the starting point. The track starts next to the bus station.

As soon as we start we find the first information sign that will guide us through the route and another with the general rules of use of the greenway Tarazonica.

In the stretch of bike path that takes us to the beginning of the road we will cross the old train engine that made the journey Tudela-Tarazona and is located in the so-called Autumn Park, next to the bullring and the school Griseras.

Once we reach the end of the bike path we will see a bridge, we will pass under it and we will see an information sign, at this point begins the path that will take us to Tarazona.

During the route we will see signs indicating which is the next town, the distance we are from it, the estimated time it will take us to get there (on foot or by bicycle) and if there is a rest area.

At about 3 kilometers we find a monument that refers to the "escachamatas", the name by which the train that made this route was known.

We continue along the road and arrive at the first of the stations, Murchante, located about 7 kilometers away. It can be an interesting stop for the little ones to regain their strength in the picnic area next to the old station.

If we resume the walk we arrive at the station of Cascante, a Roman villa with a more than interesting history. We can find it about 3 kilometers from Murchante and you can also make a stop if you wish, it has a rest area.

We continue our journey and, about 2 kilometers away, we reach the town of Tulebras, a small village in Navarra where we can find the first Cistercian monastery of women in Spain (s. XIII-XIV). There is also a rest area along the banks of the river Queiles.

The penultimate stretch of the route takes us to the station of Malón, about 3 kilometers from the previous one, we will already be in Aragonese lands. In this village we can visit the Water Museum, located at the top of the town, in what was once an old castle. From there you can take some nice pictures of the whole area of Queiles.

Finally, we arrived in Tarazona, a city with a great artistic heritage that is worth visiting. We have concluded the outward journey of the greenway of Tarazonica with 22 kilometers, now we only have to return, a journey that will be much more enjoyable as the slope is favorable.
